Every time I'm asked to video a wedding I get nervous. Maybe I shouldn't admit that but it's the truth. It's not that I don't trust my equipment or my experience but I understand how important that day is and I don't want to miss a thing. There are no second takes! Whatever happens will only happen once and I need to make sure my camera is pointing in that direction when it happens.
I always attend the rehearsal so that I can plan out my camera locations (I use 2 to 3 cameras at each wedding) and to get a flow of the service. I want to know where I need to be standing when the BIG things happen such as;
- Bride enters and the look on the groom's face
- Bride is given away and presented to her future husband
- Any especially emotional parts like when the groom chokes up during the vows
- The ring exchange
- The first kiss
- The triumphant exit
On the big day I'm all business! I have my equipment ready to go and I'm completely focused on capturing everything. The nervousness is gone and I'm in video mode!
I consider it an honour to participate in a couple's wedding and I enjoy every minute of it.
